How to lose a bike race.

Race against faster people or, think about the sprint instead of sprinting.

I was in a 5 person break last night at the Mt. Tabor series and with 2 to go itIMGP0463.JPG was clear we were not getting caught. I was pushing it pretty hard to stay away and when we came into the final stretch I was thinking about how Jon Myers was going to go early when Soloman Woras went early and I just did not jump hard enough to latch onto the wheel and contest the win.

Crossed the line in 3rd place. I’m still pretty happy with that. Feeling strong but not yet particulary fast.

Other Veloshop results:

Erin, Kim and Nicole 2nd, 3rd and 11th place. Cat 4 race.
Andy, Jackson, JV, John, Tad, Brian: 3rd, 5th, 8th, 12-14th. Fixed gear race.
Brian, Steven, Patrick (with a storming prime effort) 5th, 18th, 21st. Cat 4 race.
Andy, Mike and Anderson in 11th, 19th and 24th. Cat 3 race.

Jess got lapped like 16 times. I think maybe it was 17. But, at least he had on white armwarmers.

So pro…

  1. Took home $30 bucks for that prime!! I felt like I sold out though, Brian, Shunter and I had a plan. Then I started thinking about 30 bucks for like half a lap and just went for it. Sold out the team for ca$h………..

  2. Sellout. Yeah, Brian mentioned that everything fell apart after you took it. Can’t say I blame you though. $30 is $30. That is almost half the race series entry fee!

  4. Really, I just wasn’t ready for the attack and missed helping out Patrick and Steve. What a bummer! They did some super hard work out there, but Tabor is unforgiving. Next week. Next week.
