I witnessed the strangest thing yesterday.
These two punk kids were in the Blossoming Lotus getting lunch and glare appropriately as I walk in. One of them has put Murder City Devils all over his messenger bag and I note that his friend is wearing a Murder City Devils t-shirt as well. I order up my food and take it outside. The kids come and sit at the table next to me and start talking about the Murder city devils’ documentary they watched last night. MCD were an ok band, certainly not worthy of t-shirts, bags and documentaries. The punks move on to some other wierd stuff and it takes me a second to realise they are talking about internet gaming. These kids are really into it. Using all this internet slang and shit talking other players and games. It blew my mind.
When I was thier age…
…I would have glared at me too and probably been talking about some crappy band that I liked.
RACE REPORT:
Hillsboro crit. Really fun new course. I attack, block and finally chase, with Markwelder and 3 Veloce riders, a solo Seth Hosmer at 20 seconds out. The 5 of us put in a decent though clearly half-hearted attempt to bring the 10-20 second gap back. With 2 to go Mikkel Bossen blasts off to catch a little break and I think we might do something with Velojesse on my wheel. No dice. I forget that Jesse and I have been pulling the field around for the last 8 laps and all the pack fodder gets a free ride to the sprint finish.
Markwelder wins the bunch sprint for 2nd and the gas money. I roll across the line 2nd from last.
Back to real life:
I am wasting time right now, half thinking about calling in sick and actually going for a bike ride for once. I have not really cared much about the racing I have been doing lately. No ambitions. My coach loathes that I am doing ANY racing right now. I think it keeps me sharp. It is good for my confidence to race a little bit and see if I am progressing or just riding at the same level.
Pete is recently back from an east coast Duathalon vacation. That was her first du and she finished well! “At least I finished”. So hott…
It is hotter than hell in Portland right now and looking like it is going to be over 100 degrees this weekend. The State Champ points race is this weekend too though, there is talk of moving it to another date because of the weather.
I drank a Starbucks soy mocha last week when Steven Hunter and I were lost riding around Hillsboro. It was good. I’m sorry.
I bought some cranks from Performance Bike recently. They work well. I’m also sorry.
Fuck it. You are off the team.
Fuck it. So am I.
Let’s all join the GL and Veloce squads!
Starbucks???!!!………….I’m ashamed. Let us never speak of this moment again.
Matt Hall? Where the hell have you been?
You are not allowed to hide in the shadows and bad mouth me on the internet.
First – the murder city devils fucking rock. why you gotta be such a hater of those different than you? duh….sounds like you were the one glaring….
Second – don’t even try a frappachino. (coffee light). i am so addicted. good thing i’m shameless.
XO – elizabeth
