Did some racing after work last night at the HealthNet criterium.
The course was located in downtown Portland a mere two blocks from my shop!
HealthNet sent 4 riders (including local Doug Ollerenshaw) and we had a decent field of local PRO talent including: Chad Hartley, Even Elken, Ryan Trebon and some fast Seattle riders, Morgan Schmidt and Johnny Sundt.
I am feeling pretty good this morning: my tyre blew out with 2 laps to go and I crashed pretty spectacularly in front of the beer garden. I knew something was going on with my rear wheel and was nursing it at the back of our break for the last half of the race. I thought I had gum or something on my tyre, every time we would lean into a corner it would whup, whup, whup…
I would have stopped in the pit and gotten a new wheel but, if there was nothing wrong with it then, I would not get a free lap. Plus I had just put new tyres on it before the race!
I’m all banged up, got the euro gauze on my big swollen elbow. My ass cheeks are bright red!
The good news is that apparently my form is good and that bodes well for le cyclocross.
My Vanilla teammate Kevin Hulick tore the Cat 3 race a new a-hole! He was riding like an animal!
And that bodes well for le cyclocross too.
Spent the evening celebrating Cary Millers b-day at Pix Patisserie. Frenchy salads and over the top chocolate concoctions.
I ate a bowl of corn pops.
