I just arrived at the Outdoor demo in Boulder City, Nevada. My dad dropped me off at the Seattle airport around 5am Monday morning. I think I got about 4 hours of sleep last night. Not feeling so hot out here right now.
The race at Steliacoom yesterday was brutal. I was tired and not stoked about the run up. I managed 11th place after lots of fast riders dropped out and I played roadie tactics to out sprint Cody Peterson (who chased and caught me within 1 to go).
One spot out of the UCI points. Eh, it is early in the season. The logic is that I am supposed to be going slow now and flying in January right?
I raced the new Chris King carbon wheels last weekend on FMB Sprints. Excellent. I need better legs to do the setup justice. Met Matt Pachoa from Velonews and saw a bunch of cx racer pals in Seattle which was nice. Russell Stevenson was bossing me around during the race at Starcrossed. “go wide, go wide, wide wide wide!” Hilarious!
I slipped a pedal and lost spots at the start of both races last weekend… My Steliacoom start was pretty pathetic. Great call-up, rookie maneuver at the start.
Solomon rode awesome on Sunday, busting out a top 20 in a stacked race. A lot of people dropped out. Troy Wells was going backwards in the last couple laps after a phenomenal start. I made up about 5 spots in the last lap. Pretty much everyone was on new (as in first ride ever) bikes and wheels.
Meeting Ian Brown in a few minutes for a ride when his shuttle gets in.
Good Racing Molly.
I managed to make it down from Vancouver for Starcrossed but didn’t realize how far South the Rad GP was until we pulled out a map in the car after we checked out of the Hotel in Redmond. The whole clan decided that a headstart on the border won over a 60mile detour. I don’t think the hangovers helped much.
Like you say, early in the season. Good luck in Vegas. Shame the Vancouver race was sacked!
Andre.
SICK wheels btw.
You getting a Vagen?
Oh snap! Andy JM is in our age group at cross nats.
Good luck in vegas Tomorrow Molly!
