Leuven – Beauvechain – Leuven

I felt like hell yesterday and the Danish national champ forced me out of our apartment and on to the bike.

We rode south of Leuven and explored some fietsroutes and trails through the forest (“bos” en Vlaams).

Just south of Leuven about 10k we cross in to the Wallonne region of Belgium.

The towns visibly change in aesthetic and architecture. It just feels a little different.

We wandered through muddy lanes and fields ending up on this back road with a tiny little church and muddy cobbles stretching out in either direction as far as we could see. We were lost and asked an old man walking his dog if the cobbles led anywhere.

“they always lead somewhere” Kyle would later say.

The very old man replied in a linguistic mix. Calling to his equally old dog in french and give us directions in vlaams.

Yes, I get to rock the helmetless euro lesbian reservoir tip cap stylee.

Here is the ride Kyle and I did today wandering on the cobbles and slimy farm roads.

Tomorrow we race Diegem!

  3. I remember rolling through a field with cobbles last year near Mol with Mike Ped and we came across two old guys having a conversation on the path. They let us through with ease, and as we passed, both gentlemen in their 60′s looked at us and nodded their heads and said, “Yah”. It couldn’t have been more PRO.

Your story of the dog walker reminds me that we live parallel lives.
