I thought the trick was to wash it in tomato juice and then throw it out….

I never had luck with the tomato juice, the two times I’ve been sprayed the funk never came out. I walked around smelling like a Mendocino Farmer for a week.

Wow. The skunk story is reaalllllly disgusting. Please do let us know if tomato juice is as effective as all these boy scouts say it is.
And… the sun!! The sun! I got out for the RACC on Saturday and just did a Vancouver loop in short sleeves.

Oh wow, that’s rough. Did it make you all romantical, you know, like Pepe le Pew? Better buy a whole crate of those gallon cans of tomato juice. Or maybe best to just hide out for a while.

Yes, tomato juice is the trick. Wash the kit in it, the shoes, your legs, and maybe the bike. It may take a second washing, but it should eliminate most of the odor.

That’s pretty funny in a not-very-funny-unless-it’s-someone-else kind of way. Reminds me of when I was a kid growing up east of Gresham and my dog tangled with a porcupine in the middle of the night. We called the Clackamas County extension agent to find out how to get the quills out. His answer? “There are no porcupines west of the Cascades”. Thanks, that was really helpful. I thought that was true of skunks until I saw one last spring in my neighborhood.
