I’ve got photos and gossip from the race and the weekend but, I am hustling trying to get everything together to head over to the motherland (or modderland) so, I’ll have to postpone it till I have some free time.
I was racing tired yesterday. And after a few mishaps and a 10 foot long slide on my back down a muddy slope, I was out of the game.
I chased my Vanilla team mates and Justin Robinson around the course for the last bunch of laps and we almost got doubled by Trebon! That course was as Belgie as the US courses get and I was riding like a 6 year old!
At least that is a taste of what is to come. Finishing almost 8 minutes down on Treeboner is embarrassing in itself, add the 4 minutes most of the euros finish ahead of the US riders and you get the picture.
Total suck!
Parbo is still here, I am headed down to the Veloshop to work on my bikes and pack them up for the trip to Nationals.
My whips is muddy!
what mud?
how could you see? Your glasses were so covered/coated in mud! (Better than your corneas being covered in mud though)
huh, maybe that is why I was going so slow…
I just wiped them when I could. If they got too bad I would have tossed them in the pits.
Molly, you crack me up. Good luck in Europe, you are the nicest pro out there.
trebon was on fire, turning laps so fast we figured hed gotten ahold of a flux capacitor or something.
that course was as belgian as any ive ever ridden, at least from the perspective of someone whos only watched belgian cross on the teevee. i liked the sunday setup WAY more than saturday – yay for steep runups and dikeside chicanes! and i was totally jealous of the mud you PROs got. looking at the time as the rain started, all i could think about was “if this was cross crusade, id be racing right now”
you were looking pretty good right off the bat, and then you came around one lap, and your vanilla kit was all chocolate. we really appreciated you laughing as the mud steered you into that pole on the moto section.
you head out late this week? if i dont catch you before then, good luck! ill be keeping my eyes out for you on the euro vids.
Molly,
It’s snowing in Leavenworth right now. We expect an inch or two. It’s pretty windy and going to drop to 14 degrees tonight.
The course is in pretty good shape and they are preventing anyone from pre-riding until Thursday morning so it doesn’t get torn up.
It’s supposed to clear a bit by the weekend so I think you’ll get some slop and the off-camber stuff will be a bit tricky.
I’m racing on Thursday and then driving back to PDX on Friday so I’ll just have to send you some positive vibes.
Cheers,
Puskas
