Lots of big guns at the race today.
Boom, Thijs Al, Gronendaal, Klass Vantournout.
There were 3+ beach-sand sections, with 90 degree turns in all of them. (fuck yeah!) I was going 1/2 and 1/2. I would f’ing clean them one lap like a tru euro PRO and then I would ride so poorly the next, losing the line and struggling. eh, the sand riding needs power, power, power.
I raced within myself today, did some good efforts to open up the legs, and did not burn any matches. We are off to Nommay, France for the World cup tomorrow. I don’t want to be too tired after the 6 hour drive down there! It is basically in Switzerland. Go Switzerland.
This is pretty much our life right now. Go Belgium.
The race was fun in the end, Steven Hunter started and got shoved off his bike by Gronendaal. They played it on TV over and over again. What the hell? That guy is nuts.
Got to see Maaike race the Elite women’s race and hung out with Danny and the Belgie family. Peter was a stud in the boxes and there were plenty of other scowling Brits, Belgies and Nederlanders. Met David Quist. Gave Jos a proper Belgian greeting and Wendy Simms a hello! (thanks for the photos: Niels Dewit and Hein te Riele!)
Met / re-met a couple Canadian renners and we will all see each other again Sunday in France!
I’ll be out of touch till Monday.
Soulwax is awesome!! Good luck at the WC.
Best of luck!
Go Veganey, veganey….!!!
GOOOOOD luck in France! I hope those Frenchies are good to you. Glad to know Steven made a lasting impression on the Euro Scene in his short tour.
Awesome job! Nice work, too, Hunter!

You were both so not even close to last. Way to open up your Euro account.
It’s snowing like crazy here – totally rad mountain biking in Forest Park.
I will cheer for you when I am in Belgium next week. Maybe at Diegem.
post the Hunter vs. Gronendaal clip!
You’re doing Oregon proud. Groenendaal has no class. Tell him he’s welcome to race in Oregon anytime, nd we have more class here than to be push people off their bikes.
Two votes for Hunter v Gronendaal

man, groenendaal = DICK. i dont care if youre lapping slower riders, and theyre not getting out of your way as fast as you would like, have some class. way unPRO, way out of line. if youre that freaking PRO you can use your mad skillz to just ride around. lame. here in oregon, we dont stoop to that level – we have windmills to do that kind of thing.
nats in bend next 2 years. im already freaking amped for that.
