rough conversations that should probably not be public, fuck it, here we go:

This is kinda my daily routine, wake up, sprint around the car a few times. Worth watching the whole video for the last 5 seconds.

bike racers. sponsorship. teams.

I threw my hands in the air: “man, I am maxed out. I sold everything I had left to sell to barely afford to go to Europe last season. And now I’m in debt. Instead of starting the cyclocross race season with money on my credit card, I’ll be starting my race season trying to pay down my credit card!”

The dilemma. I’ve gone over this year after year. My heart is in the small, the hand built, the local.

priceless:

The latest Embrocation cycling journal will be in stock in a couple days.

Hott white-sex PRO bars and stems in my hands too. yikes.

  1. Whateva, I have seen Matt Hall do way more extreme stuff on a rigid mtb

  2. White components officially went from pro to gauche about halfway through last season. Please adjust components accordingly.

  3. What you’ve done for US cross, Vanilla, Veloshop, the Portland bike scene is priceless. You can’t put a dollar figure on it. Your travels and travails have been an inspiration to all us cross freaks. Its upped my cross game big time! I am forever in your gratitude. You are pretty much what got me riding tubulars and motivated me to fly 3,000 miles to PDX to do laps at PIR in the mud!

But yes, money talks. Especially as you have a business and other concerns. You can’t foot the bill for racing forever. Its an all too common theme. Keep it local this year, see if you can dig out of that credit card and maybe there are some payouts at local races, you certainly earned the right to not kill yourself and bury yourself in debt chasing the cross dream we all want to live!

  4. That kamikaze video remind me of an MTV Sports segment featuring Tomac and Herbold that aired in the early nineties. I looked in vain for it online, but maybe it’s better that I never see it again, because in my mind as a 14 year old it was one of the raddest thing I had ever seen – and that’s how I remember it.

  5. Molly, it would be so cool to see you Tonkin and Shannon going to toe to toe every week! right here at the local races, I agree with Chip you and Tonkin hand had a major hand in how I have evolved as a cross racer…..priceless! Oh and I will soon be in to pick up me a set of the pro bar and stem I think white is still the shit!

  8. Cool video…Jason McRoy = legend. He’s still a hero to most British MTB’ers.
